My Favorite Cole Porter Songs

Posted by Denice in

I like music and movies but I tend to be selective when watching musicals. To be blunt about it, I did not enjoy Moulin Rouge nor Mama Mia (but I am a great admirer of the multi-talented Meryl Streep), I skipped Casino (although my sister said it’s worth a try) and I’ve been shying away from le operas.

However, I had fun watching De-Lovely (Love and Life of Cole Porter) and I couldn’t believe I watched it from beginning to end despite the fact that I’m not a fan of Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd.

I think what made it interesting for me is that the movie showed beautiful renditions of several Cole Porter songs which are my personal favorites like So In Love, Everytime We Say Goodbye, Night and Day and In the Still of the Night. Bonus for me would be the special appearances by my favorite singers such as Diana Krall and Natalie Cole.

Here are the songs and performers as featured in the movie (combining these big names into one soundtrack is such a rare occasion):

1.

It's De-Lovely by Robbie Williams

2.

Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love) by Alanis Morissette

3.

Begin the Beguine by Sheryl Crow

4.

Let's Misbehave by Elvis Costello

5.

Be a Clown by Kevin Kline

6.

Night and Day by Kevin Kline

7.

8.

What Is This Thing Called Love? by Lemar

9.

I Love You by Mick Hucknall

10.

Just One of Those Things by Diana Krall

11.

12.
