Fra Lippo Lippi Concerts and Songs

Posted by Denice in

Philippines is visited by a lot of international singer performers in 2008 and a dozen lined up for the next year. I wish a well known new wave pop band from Norway called Fra Lippo Lippi could also visit the Philippines in the near future. The band had several hits during the 80’s and my husband told me that the very first cassette tape he had bought was Fra Lippo Lippi album in 1986 by Virgin Records. Songs released were the following:

1. "Come Summer"
2. "Shouldn't Have to Be Like That"
3. "Even Tall Trees Bend"
4. "Just Like Me"
5. "Leaving"
6. "Regrets"
7. "Crash of Light"
8. "Everytime I See You"
9. "The Distance Between Us"
10. "Coming Home"

How I wish I could see them in person. I am sure I will work hard just to have a memorabilia from them. Even promotional pens will do.

Rihanna and Chris Brown: Successful Concert

Rihanna and Cris Brown are currently attached to their luggage practically given their next concert itinerary, this time in the US because they had a couple of concerts in Houston, Phoenix and New York this December 2008 but leaving more than 70,000 fans in the Philippines dancing with Rihanna’s umbrella.

We were not able to watch the concert but we were there in Bonifacio High in Taguig City that night struggling for the heavy traffic congestion that struck us for almost an hour on the road. Rihanna’s concert consumed all parking lots and even those vacant spaces around Bonifacio Global City. Thus, this left some of her fans to park and walk one to two kilometers towards her concert venue.

Arnel Pineda – Journey’s New Singer

Open Arms is one of my favorite songs by Journey. That’s why when my husband told me that there is a certain Filipino singer named Arnel Pineda in the band O got excited. You see, he was invited to audition for one of the world’s renown group The Journey. I can’t wait to see what posts in you tube made the group (Journey) pick Arnel to have an audition.

After hearing Arnel in YouTube singing Open Arms, I never doubted why he is chosen to be the lead singer of the group. The rest is history according to him. Now the Journey will be having Asian Concert Tour next year and the Philippines will be one of the countries to have them live.

This is a concert to save money for. Even though it means not having to buy Lipovox just to have money for the concert.

Steve McQueen

I was able to watch the movie “The Towering Inferno” during the early 80’s. This was one of Steven “Steve” McQueen’s movie in 1974 that made him become the highest paid movie star in the world during that time. McQueen since then was nicknamed “The King of Cool” whose movies made him one of the top box office makers during 1960-1970.

But what made McQueen more controversial was that when he was been diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1979 and in spite of the doctor’s advised that they could not prolong his life, he traveled to Mexico to seek a very non traditional treatment and natural drug for cancer.

McQueen’s medical condition worsened and later died in cardiac arrest after his five-pound abdominal tumor was removed, despite the warnings of his U.S. doctors that the tumor was inoperable and that his heart would not withstand the surgery.

Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson’s tragic family deaths shocked her and all her fans. The killing of her mother, brother and her seven year-old nephew was really traumatic for the singer, actress and model. Hudson was discovered when she was a finalist of the “American Idol”.

She was starring in a 2006 movie Dreamgirl and also won an award as best Supporting Actress in the Academy.

Traumatic events like this will really affect you as a person. I am sure she will not be needing CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) anymore to lose weight. Hudson credited her mother with encouraging her to audition for "American Idol," which launched her career.
