I was able to watch the movie “The Towering Inferno” during the early 80’s. This was one of Steven “Steve” McQueen’s movie in 1974 that made him become the highest paid movie star in the world during that time. McQueen since then was nicknamed “The King of Cool” whose movies made him one of the top box office makers during 1960-1970.
But what made McQueen more controversial was that when he was been diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1979 and in spite of the doctor’s advised that they could not prolong his life, he traveled to Mexico to seek a very non traditional treatment and natural drug for cancer.
McQueen’s medical condition worsened and later died in cardiac arrest after his five-pound abdominal tumor was removed, despite the warnings of his U.S. doctors that the tumor was inoperable and that his heart would not withstand the surgery.
