Bar Performer as a Job

While in the middle of coordinating with a musical band manager on the songs that will be prepared for my sister’s wedding, I couldn’t help but blurt out a question I’ve been itching to ask: “What is it like to work as a bar singer?” (Isn’t the interest obvious from the question itself? I’m glad she didn’t probe on this). To which she replied “Oh, you must really love what you do if you want to make it as a bar singer or performer. Your routine is 9:00pm to 2:00am everyday. You will also wine and dine the audience if you have to. If you are not performing, you are practicing your song or learning a new one. You must breathe music. Or you will just give up.”

What a realistic way to describe the job. But I think it will hardly feel like a job if you love what you are doing. Hmm… this is duly noted.

Adam Lambert – American Idol Top 12

I got to watch two episodes of American Idol and came across a guy named Adam Lambert. The first one being his own rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Black and White” and the next one is a country-cum-Middle Eastern inspired song whose title I missed to remember. Since then, I was willing to make a bet that he would be the American Idol for this particular season. It would be very difficult for him not to win with the kind of “originality” and superstar quality that he projects and the kind of competitors he currently has.

Hopefully he wins and like Taylor Hicks, may he also have a concert here in Manila. When that happens, then it’s time to look for on Sale camera or video for me to capture his live performances.

Concerts in The Philippines

I heard and read about some articles pertaining to the results of concerts in the Philippines. This includes local and international artists who don’t make good income in terms of ticket sales but not necessarily in sponsorship. They observed that there are some well known international artists can’t make concert goers watch.

This artist had already had their target crowd, from their fans and those who love their music. That’s why event and concert producers wanted their services but it’s true that they may not make it well in terms or ticket sales.

If the artist is business savy, he or she also needs conversion rate optimization like what do bloggers do to convert visitors into income.

Even though there is a world crisis going on, people will still somehow spend to watch someone they love. Like those 100 thousand of fans who watched Eraserheads concerts. Hopefully thousands of Arnel Pineda fans of the Journey fame will also see the band’s concert tomorrow in MOA open ground.

Shaquille O’Neal

My husband is really a big fan of Shaquille Rashun O’Neal, more popularly known as Shaq, the NBA player, actor and rapper. I never thought that he can dance given his big height of more than seven feet tall.

Shaq has prized possessions not only the tangible ones such as a beautiful house, car collections, Audemars Piguet watch and beautiful family. He is also widely most quotable athletes of all time.

Althugh he was criticized as a rapper, he still managed to release five studio album and one compilation album. He even received a platinum certification from RIAA from his debut album Shaq Diesel.

We were on a computer store last weekend because my husband had his computer upgraded. While waiting, I as also looking around prices of new laptops and found wholesale laptops that will appear cheaper when bought in new units. But what captured me was the screensaver of one of the laptops displayed. It was the rock band Journey featuring its latest album cover The Revelation which already made records worldwide.

Now the band will be having a concert in the Philippines this coming March 14, 2009 in SM Mall of Asia open grounds. This will be an enchanted evening with the Journey.

A few more sleeps to go and come Saturday night on March 7, 2009, fans expect the Eraserheads Part 2 Concert in SM Mall of Asia open ground. Tickets are starting to run out already. We hope that band vocalist Ely Buendia could finish the whole concert. Hopefully we will not be carrying pantry moth traps anymore because insects surrounding the venue will evacuate because I am sure thousands of Filipino fans will be there to have their “Huling El Bimbo”.
