My Son’s Happy Sembreak

Posted by Denice in

My son Kyle had a great day yesterday visiting his classmate’s house. It was his classmate’s mom’s initiative to have a potluck party and swimming was one of the agenda.

His dad joined him and he told me that he really felt the kindness of the parents of my son’s classmate whose father works in an insurance company offering several services including term life insurance. I suddenly remember that my son once posed for its their marketing brochure and manuals, too.

It was perfect time to have this party because Kyle has been missing his other classmates because he was absent for more than two weeks. Secondly, the little boys of Gymboree are still on semestral break. All in all, about five kids were present in this party.

Kyle must have liked this experience and he must really have had so much fun that this morning, I was surprised that he included in his morning praying another chance to visiting again his classmate’s house to play, swim and get together.

Food Tripping

If there’s one other thing my family and I have in common, that would be our love for eating out on weekends. It goes without saying that we love food.

These days, my husband and I deliberately promised not to eat at the same food outlet again each weekend. This is so that we can have many food outlets to talk about. That’s the primary intention.

Secondarily, it would be nice to break out of the broken record habit. With or without appetite suppressants, I am the kind of person who has a tendency to eat the same thing at about the same time at exactly the same food outlet all over again. The funny thing is that my husband has the same diagnosis.

It would be an achievement and learning experience for me and my family, if ever, to go out of our comfort zones and try something new.

Josh Groban

When our son Kyle was still a baby, I recall that he’d really like to hear Josh Groban’s songs. He will be easy to put to sleep as long as he was hearing his songs. Attempt to turn off his music and he’d awaken.

I will never forget when we were walking and he was still on his stroller, we were shocked when he laughed out loud upon hearing a Josh Groban song somewhere along the way.

Rare Find # 2 – So In Love (Piano Jazz Version)

I was going to say that Hampton Hawes’ rendition of So In Love solo piano instrumental is, by far, the best instrumental versions I have ever heard until I stumbled upon this lady I don’t recognize but the jazzy spunk of her piano version made me stop, listen, linger and yes, replayed it two times.

Whoever you are, ma’am, you did an excellent rendition of this lovely song and I look forward to become as good as you are when I find the time to work my own one of these days.

Baby Boom

These days, by mere coincidence, a lot of my friends and relatives are giving birth. Since I only keep a small circle of friends and relatives and most of them know each other, I’d better make sure I’m giving unique baby gifts lest each one of them find themselves receiving the same stuff from me. These are the days when baby books and magazines --- online or offline --- would come in handy. I may possibly work on a similar budget range but at least each one should look interesting. Most of all, I hope that these mothers would be delighted to receive these gifts from me as I’ll try to make sure I’ll be happy to receive the gift if I were to be given such gift.
